About Beat It
Beat It is a relatively young sports association located at the University’s sport centre Olympos at The Uithof. Our club is led by a board of 5 individuals that are all studying or recently finished with studying in and about Utrecht.
We have a great group of members, varying between 45 and 80 people, that come from all kinds of places around the world. The majority is Dutch, but other nationalities include Australia, Botswana, Finland and Iran to name a few. So US Beat It is quite international, and everyone is open to meeting new people and speaking English! 🙂
The level of squash of members varies greatly. From beginners who have never (or hardly) played before to advanced players that play on the national squash circuit. So there’s likely always someone with the same level to play with.
US Beat It coordinates squash training courses with Olympos, and we are proud to say some of our members provide these. The courses take place in 4 blocks of 10 weeks, and take place on mondays and tuesdays. There are four groups; beginners, advanced-beginners, intermediates and advanced. Each group is made up of 6 trainees and every training takes an hour.
For those that have never played squash and are unsure if they like the game, the beginners training course is offered on mondays.
Following a training course is an excellent way to improve both your technique, fitness and stamina, as well as getting to know others.
More information can be found on the training page.
In terms of squash, US Beat It has one team in a Friday squash competition where they play other squash teams in the region. We also have an internal ladder, which all members can take part in, and we regularly organise squash tournaments.
Besides being a squash club, US Beat It also finds it important to have enough social activities. We plan a lot of events for our members, like a racketlon, bbq, or just drinks and going into the city for a good night out together!
